Ireland's Annual Autism Conference

Welcome to our conference web-site. We have just completed our third annual conference, and we are delighted to report that over 200 people atttended over the two days, and they had the benefit of 15 speakers and their presentations - who came from far and wide to share their expertise and experience. The final schedule shows the wide selection of presentations that were available, and we want to thank all of those speakers for their contribution to a most successful conference.

The conference centred around the science and application of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) but it also included a presentation from Autism Speaks and on the Autism Genome Project, as well as a keynote presentation by Joan Crowley O'Sullivan, from the Department of Education's SESS.

ABA Professionals from Ireland, Britain and America spoke on a wide range of subjects, based on their own huge wealth of experience and expertise. As well as formal presentations, there was a number of specific Case Study presentations by several of the existing ABA schools in Ireland.

The general theme of this year's conference was "Evidence-based interventions for individuals with autism across the lifespan"

Those who attended the conference will be able to download any of the hand-outs relating to the presentations - this will take us a little time to set up. But if you need them more urgently, pleas email us with your request.

We also hope that all attendees completed their Evaluation Form, which will help us with ....

Next Year?

The Red Door will make every effort to host their 4th ABA Autism Conference ... but it is too early to announce dates. The organisers are full-time parents at The Red Door, who have day jobs as well as a child on the spectrum. But watch this space!

And finally ...

As well as thanking and acknowledging the huge contribution to this year's event (as in prior years too) of the speakers who came from near and far, and the parents at The Red Door, the person who needs to be thanked the most is the Conference Director, and Director of Education at The Red Door, Martina Boylan, without whom neither The Red Door nor this conference would have happened.

2008 Conference Dates

This year, we moved the conference to the month of December, and it was held on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th. We were delighted to have the excellent conference facilities of University College Dublin in Belfield.

The Learning Centre for Autistic Children is The Red Door's patron, and this conference is part of their effort to help spread the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis to as wide an audience as possible.
