Promoting Adaptive Behaviour Competencies
08th December from 14:00 to 15:30
Adult outcomes can, at least in part, be seen be seen as a function of adaptive behaviour (Mazefsky, Williams, & Minshew, 2008). And while is not an overstatement to say that adaptive behaviour competencies will get you through times of no academic skills better that academic skills will get you through times of no adaptive behaviour competencies.
Little recent research has examined this - how best to teach such skills and behaviours to older learners, particularly in the context of the community. This presentation will provide an overview of the concept of adaptive behaviour and discuss ways in which effective instruction may be provided.
